Dear Trevor Richards,
We’re emailing our subscriber list to let everyone know that the submissions deadline on the Second Emissions Reduction Plan has been extended to this Saturday. This process is an important opportunity to persuade policymakers to give greater emphasis to biochar as one of our most viable tools in our country’s climate response.
There’s a form that makes doing an online submission a simplified process here:
Consultation on ERP [ https://bnnz.nonprofit.net.nz/civicrm/mailing/url?u=130&qid=2595 ]
BNNZ has a press release on the consultation. [ https://bnnz.nonprofit.net.nz/civicrm/mailing/url?u=131&qid=2595 ]
Toula and Andrew Finlayson from Southland Carbon offer the following:
“Southland Carbon applauds the government’s inclusion of biochar in their emissions reduction plan and will be commenting on the use of biochar in agriculture through animal feed, soil amendment, nutrient retention, and water management. Reduction in on farm emissions with the host of other benefits, using biomass residues from wilding pines and forestry operations.”
“We are stressing the importance of producing biochar to International Industry standards (for producers and resellers) and testing requirements to ensure high quality and safe biochar.”
The more the merrier, so if you’ve got some spare bandwidth we appreciate the support!
Best regards,
Phil Stevens
